Should You Be Long-suffering?
"Long-suffering is our patient endurance of provocation or wrong in hopes of improvement in the situation."
Since we all make mistakes it make sense that we not lash out willie-nillie at real or supposed provocation. Ask yourself two things: 1st - What part of the problem am I?; 2nd - Why did they do that or react the way they did?
One way in which we can learn to be long-suffering is by putting ourselves in others shoes, so to speak.
I love how this is expressed in the book, To Kill a Mockingbird:
"If you just learn a single trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it" - Atticus to his daughter, Scout, in To Kill a Mockingbird.

All Matter is Timeless
One way or the other, matter goes on. We and everything here (and "out there") contain carbon particles that are as old as time itself. Isn't that interesting?
I believe in eternity. I believe that if I die I can still live again. I'm referring to my hope of a resurrection back to life on earth. (More on that another time, however.)
Here's an interesting thought to "wrap your mind around":
Albeit, simplistically stated, matter is energy spinning at different rates. Everything we know is made of energy/power particles. Our sun is one gigantic ball of dynamic energy!
Regardless of what you believe there is a fundamental truth recorded at Isaiah 40:26". . .“Raise YOUR eyes high up and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who is bringing forth the army of them even by number, all of whom he calls even by name. Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one [of them] is missing."
The book of Isaiah was completed shortly after 732 B.C.E. How did the writer know the make up of the universe? Amazing...

The Secret to Living
As a child of the sixties, I longed for peace and harmony for all mankind and creation. In the 1970s I found the knowledge that I needed to stay hopeful that peace and harmony will one day exist, no matter what this crazy world does. I believe that time in near at hand.
In the meantime, I want to be the best "earth-rider" that I can be. What a glorious plant!
I never lost my "ecology now" roots, something that awakened in me as kid. I want to live here forever...how can we do our part to be good stewards?
We live in a very greedy society. We confuse our wants with our needs. The youth of the 1960 (really, it started in the 50s) saw the older generation's greedy consumption and rebelled against it. Yet, many of these same people today are the greediest of consumers.
I ask the question, "What do we really need?"
Both my maternal and paternal grandmothers taught me that "waste not, want not" was more than just a saying. They knew the secret to living with nature was conserving what you had and the things around you.
The secret to living is to keep it simple, knowing that happiness lies not in things, but in higher purpose.
